Choosing the Right LensNot only do your favorite pair of sunglasses make you look cool and fashionable while your shopping or playing some sort of sports, but they also have a wide variety of colors, styles and functions. So which lens should you use? It really depends on what you are doing. Some people just want to look like their favorite celebrity and do not really care about colors and styles. Others know exactly what they want and have a more specific purpose. At least be sure to purchase a pair of sunglasses that block 100% UVA & UVB light rays.
*LENS TINT
A gray lens will help sharpen colors and works best for boaters and fishermen. Gray lenses are great for deep water fishing because they help to enhance your vision of the fish through the water.
A green lens is said to be the least change of color perception than any other color. A green lens is very popular among tennis players because this color lens helps to bring out the background enhancing the contrast with the yellow ball.
A brown lens helps cut down blue rays, but for some images may not appear clear and crisp. This color lens is popular with bikers and skiers. A brown lens will help enhance your view of the road or help you to see the changing textures on the slopes.
Mirror lenses are useful for cutting down on reflections and are used by bikers to limit glare from the sun or passing cars.
Amber lenses help cut down glare and help make things appear more clear. Some hunters and sharpshooters like the effect of these lenses because the lenses help to light up the area making it better to see farther away.
There are many colors and shades to pick from so take some time to figure out what is best for you.
*SCRATCH RESISTANT LENSES
Picking out a good quality pair of sunglasses usually will insure that the lens is of good quality as well. Plastic lenses that are scratch resistant will have a coating to help cut down on scratching. Of course, getting yourself a good quality Microfiber Cleaning Bag or Cleaning Cloth will also help protect your shades. Do not forget that a glass lens will be even harder to scratch!
